If in the Rajya Sabha the question was whether or not Prime Minister Narendra Modi would make an intervention in the debate, the point of contention in the Lok Sabha was whether the government would allow voting on the motion.

With Prime Minister Narendra Modi being targeted for demonetisation move, the Opposition has been demanding his presence in the House for a debate on the issue. Parliament has seen heated arguments ever since the beginning of the Winter Session with adjournments ordered almost everyday.  If in the Rajya Sabha the question was whether or not Prime Minister Narendra Modi would make an intervention in the debate, the point of contention in the Lok Sabha was whether the government would allow voting on the motion.

On Wednesday, a united Opposition escalated its attack on the government on the demonetisation issue. They formed a human chain and staged a dharna in the premises to register their protest.
